Green Victories: Long Lake Nature Reserve - Nova Scotia

Long Lake Nature Reserve: After a long campaign by Friends of Nature and the Kaiser Meadow Brook Conservation Society,
this 261 hectares of land was purchased from Bowater Mersey Paper Company by the Nova Scotia government in 2007
and officially protected under the province's Special Places Protection Act on October 24, 2008. Photos by Leif Helmar.

The 261 hectares of land features mature spruce, pine and a shade-tolerant hardwood forest.
It is located in an area of the province with very little protected land
