Halifax Blue DotHalifax Blue Dot Movement is organizing to launch their presence in the Halifax community and to help inspire other Nova Scotians to get involved with the movement in their communities.

HALIFAX BLUE DOT KICK-OFF

Date: Sunday, November 23rd

Time: 1pm – 4pm

Place: The Atrium in the Steele Ocean Sciences Building, 1355 Oxford Street

Volunteers with the Halifax Blue Dot Movement invite you to our kick-off event to celebrate the start of a campaign to get the right to a healthy environment recognized in Halifax.

The celebration will include food and music. We will also have speakers from different walks of life who will tell us how they connect to this movement.

Blue Dot volunteers will be showcasing some of the work they’ve already been able to accomplish, and will be able to share with you ways you can get involved.

What’s the Blue Dot Movement?

Over 110 different nations – that’s more than half of the world – recognize their citizens’ right to live in a healthy environment. But not Canada.

We can change that.

Communities across Canada are mobilizing to have their municipalities pass declarations that support the right of their citizens to live in a healthy environment. Once a declaration is passed in Halifax, communities will call upon the Nova Scotia government to introduce legislation at the provincial level. With municipalities and provinces across the country standing up, we will lay the foundation needed to amend the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms to include the basic right to fresh air, clean water and safe food to eat.

Join us.
