Friends of Nature went on a four hour, four km. hike April 29, 2012. It was sponsored by the Chester Municipal Rec & Parks Department. Brad Armstrong led the hikers through rough terrain off trail, exploring some lesser known areas of Card Lake Park.

As promised, we saw mature forest stands, a large cranberry bog, and 11 different species of birds. Jody Conrad from the Rec Department gave an interesting lesson on the use of a compass. As well, he related a good Indian story about hemlock trees.
